Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said wreckage fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
