🔗 Share this article Isak Robbers Instructed to Repay Just £1 Per Person from £1.2 Million Thefts Jela Jovanovic confessed to participating in the burglaries Members of an Italy-based clan of thieves who stole over £1.2m valued of items, among them from ex- NUFC striker Alexander Isak, have been mandated to pay back only £1 each. Brothers Valentino Nikolov and Giacomo Nikolov, their sister Jela Jovanovic and her child Charlie travelled to the northeastern of England to raid three houses in spring 2024. The foursome were imprisoned for between a decade or less in 2025. At a proceeds of crime hearing at Newcastle Crown Court, Jela and the brothers Nikolov were ordered to pay back £1 each while Charlie must hand over over a thousand pounds. Details of the Burglaries The court previously heard the group came by boat in the UK on March 27, 2024 and used a RV as their "headquarters", which they stationed at Scotch Corner and Durham service stations while using another car to search for properties and execute thefts. On 31 March they took over one million pounds of items such as designer clothing, purses, jewellery and a CBE medal from a residence on Clayton Road in Jesmond, Newcastle, while the residents were on holiday. Valentino Nikolov was the only one of the group to deny burglary but was found guilty by jurors The next evening, the crew broke into a house on a gated cul-de-sac in Whitburn, and stole luxury bags, jewellery and shoes worth more than £100,000. Following surveillance of Newcastle United's facility for 48 hours, they then struck at the residence of Sweden player Alexander Isak in Darras Hall on 4 April, taking ten thousand pounds in cash, sixty-eight thousand pounds worth of jewelry and the striker's one hundred twenty thousand pound Audi RS6. The gang, who were portrayed by prosecutors as professional touring burglars, wore gloves and face coverings, turned their phones off as they approached their objectives and strapped a license plate, which had been taken from a garage in a town, on to their vehicle with rubber straps. They were arrested in the Birmingham area on 13 April. But Charlie was the only one found to have any funds that could be "recovered", namely £1,135.50 which had previously been confiscated by police, the court was informed, with 14 days to be spent in prison if he defaulted. The remaining members had no assets or assets so were directed to make a token amount of £1 each, with one week in incarceration the result if the sum was not paid.
