LBJ's Record-Setting Point-Scoring Streak Concludes, But Los Angeles Pull Off Win Against Raptors.

LeBron James was aware his incredible streak of scoring in double figures was threatened. In that crucial moment, though, it didn't concern him.

The smart move was to pass the rock – and he executed. Consequently, the legendary streak was over.

LeBron's astounding streak of over 1,200 straight NBA regular season double-digit scoring performances was snapped during a recent game, as the NBA's all-time scoring leader was limited to a mere eight points in the Los Angeles Lakers' 123-120 triumph versus Toronto. He made the decisive pass, finding teammate Rui Hachimura to hit a three-pointer to win the game.

“Nothing,” James said after being questioned regarding the conclusion of his run. “The important thing is we won.”

An Unselfish Decision Secures Victory

James could have attempted to win the game – and extended the streak – on the final possession, yet he opted to pass to Rui on the wing. Rui connected, and James celebrated with his hands in the air.

It's about playing the game the right way. You always make the correct play,” James explained. That has always been my M.O.. It's how I was instructed the game. I've played that way throughout my career.”

He is very conscious of how many points he's scored during a game,” said Lakers coach the coach. He made the play like he’s done countless times.”

The Run's Closing Chapter

LeBron checked back into the game one last time with 5:23 remaining, the result and the streak both hanging in the balance. He had a mere six points from a 3-for-15 performance then.

He managed a basket at under two minutes remaining to tie the game then missed a mid-range jumper with one minute to go which could have taken him to ten points.

He passed up one more attempt – but could have. A teammate found him with a few seconds left, but James decided to make the pass instead.

The basketball deities, when you play it the right way, they often bless you,” Redick stated.

The History of a Monumental Record

This incredible run began on Jan. 6, 2007. It was easily the greatest double-digit streak in NBA history: MJ previously held a streak of 866 consecutive games with 10+ points, Kareem recorded 787 such games, and The Mailman had the fourth-longest run at 575.

“He’s such a team-oriented player,” remarked Lakers center Jake LaRavia.

“He’s just playing hoops. He had the opportunity but because of who he is on the court and his personality as an individual, he chose the pass, found Rui and secured the game.”

Reaching double digits had typically been a guarantee early in the fourth quarter began. Throughout his run, he had attained ten points by the beginning of the final quarter over twelve hundred times prior to Thursday.

However, two of those unusual single-digit games after three periods took place recently: He recorded nine points entering the final quarter against Dallas last week, then had six before the fourth quarter versus the Suns earlier in the week.

He succeeded in preserve the record against the Suns. In the following contest, it was over – but he still rejoiced regardless.

My focus is to make the right play. That comes naturally, win, lose or draw,” James affirmed. If you make the right play, the game gods forever returning the favor.”
