Jones has shared that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the team following the fallout from his televised remarks.

“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”

The head coach has refused to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.

The player stated that the dressing room atmosphere remained positive. “He was his usual self, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” Jones added.

The midfielder also implied that a player's desire to start is preferable. “I understand there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
