President Trump Invites Loved Ones of Shot Military Members to White House

President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the family of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He noted that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Devastating Shooting

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief stated he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Reaction

Mourners gathered over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to assist law enforcement in Washington DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“She was the individual that teachers desired. She carried herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the press. “She was caring, caring and always ready to assist people.”

Service plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Policy Revisions

Officials have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The tragedy caused the administration to suspend asylum processing and cease issuing entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.

Status of the Airman

The airman, a native of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Morrisey mentioned on television.

Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to the family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had bravery,” Morrisey told the audience at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
