Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for concerns to be asked about his position after another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from above,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

Slot highlighted familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a phase such as this with results so bad.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to its rightful place, prove again what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
